Sesame Street
Licensed products like Sesame Street (http://www.lelandswallpaper.com/sesamestreet.htm), NFL, NASCAR, and Disney are top sellers for most retailers as they are highly and most visibly marketed. Consumers may not know that the licenses must be renewed every year with the manufacturer. Upon negotiations, licensee or manufacturer may change images at will, only notifying the retailer after changes have been made. Retailers, like the consumer, are at the mercy of the industry in having correct images, product information, etc.
Cost for the license is negotiated base upon the popularity of the line, whether royalties will need to be paid to individuals or organizations, and of course cost of producing the product. The more popular the product and the more royalties to be paid, the higher the price the consumer will pay.

Consumers should also be aware that franchises such as the NFL (http://footballwallpaper.com/), MLB, NCAA, NASCAR and NHL can have changes within the league by teams and sponsors rendering the current products less desirable to the consumer, and thus manufacturers will make changes before the license needs to be renewed to reflect new team colors, logos and sponsors.
Bottom line: if you are looking to purchase a licensed product, be flexible. Build a room design around the basics and keep in mind something could change between the time you order and the product arrives. In doing so, you will find that decorating is much less stressful.
